Housing Policy and Regulations

  1. All students living  at U.T.C.W.I. come under the internal discipline of the college, and are  required to sign a statement agreeing to the rules of occupancy and discipline.
  2. A Caution Fee of $1,000.00 must be   deposited with the Bursar by each  student against any loss or damage to  U.T.C.W.I.  property for which the  student is responsible.  This amount is refundable at the end of the  student’s tenure, on presentation of a receipt, if there has been no liability.
  3. All fees and terms relate to the specific dates that U.T.C.W.I. is officially in session.  Occupancy outside these dates must be negotiated with the Deputy President. This means that no one may remain in occupancy during official breaks, without negotiation.
  4. Fees must be paid in advance on a semester basis.
  5. Cooking, especially with the use of hot plates, is strictly forbidden in the cottages.  The kitchenettes may be used to prepare snacks and meals on week-ends only.
  6. Only the use of small radio/cassettes is allowed in the cottages.  Permission must be sought from the Deputy President for the use of any other electrical appliance.
  7. All residents are urged to avoid noise pollution, especially during lectures, study time and sleeping hours.
  8. All residents are urged to avoid  littering the premises, to use the bins which are provided, and to contribute to the good appearance of the grounds.  Make sure to close the bins after use, and only bagged garbage may be placed in them.
  9. Willful waste makes woeful want”.  All lights must be turned off in a room which is not being used.  Both electricity and water must be used conservatively.
  10. Each student will receive a key to the cottage, on the presentation of the receipt from the Bursar’s office indicating that all fees are paid, or a statement indicating that suitable arrangements have been made for payment.
  11. A special “Key Deposit” of $150.00 must be made with the Bursar’s office by each student, which will be refunded when the key is returned.
  12. Keys must be returned to the Bursar’s office before leaving the premises for holidays and at the end of the school year. As long as the key is in your possession you are deemed to be using the room and therefore responsible for payment.  Theologues must return their keys through their wardens.
  13. All residents are reminded that it is their responsibility to secure their belongings and personal effects, as the college does not accept responsibility for any loss.
  14. Students are not to remove any of the furniture from the room or cottages, not even from one cottage to another, or from one room to another.
  15. As a security measure, all public areas - canteen, classrooms, chapel, kitchenettes, must be closed at 11:00 p.m. unless special permission is given by the Deputy President for any of them to be opened beyond this hour.  The student lounge may remain open until   midnight if in use.
  16. Off campus visitors are expected to leave by 11:00 p.m.
  17. The college reserves the right of periodic inspection to ensure compliance with these rules.
  18. Request for repairs should be made on the relevant form available from the Maintenance Officer.
